In the past days, I was thinking about my next goals that I would like to achieve. I am currently reading an interesting account of the “Tour Divide” that starts in Alberta, Canada, and goes via the US to Mexico. The tour is covering about 4500 km, and the winners of this “inofficial” race need around 13-15 days, averaging more than 300 km per day.

Not that I want to do this next week but I can see myself preparing for this within the next 3-4 years. After cycling from Ocean Shores to Foster last May, averaging about 200 km for 3 days, I am planning to cycle to Armidale. I am aiming for about 230 – 250 kms per day which will be the longest cycling distance ever for me on a single day.

This will be a total of about 900 kms within 5 days (1 rest day in between, when my niece will have her wedding). This will be a good training for Ironman Australia on May 4, 2025. It will be my 6th Ironman and 8th long distance triathlon.

Another big race will be on June 21: my very first “real” ultra-marathon over 100 kms at the Brisbane Valley Trail Event. Moreover, I am probably going to race on Sept 14 at Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast to finally break the 5:00 hours (I was close enough at Ironman 70.3 Thailand in Phuket back in November 2017 with a time of 5:01), and I will also attend the World Triathlon World Championship in Wollongong south of Sydney on Oct. 16 at the Olympic distance triathlon.

I think 2025 will be a packed year with many highlights and hopefully some new records;) The big bike rides and the 100 k ultra are preparations for Ultraman Australia as well, by the way. I am planning to race it in May 2026 – but this will be next year, and it is still way to go. I will write more often about my progress on this blog – so stay tuned;)
