Yesterday, I have found a message from Harley via Instagram. He had found one of my articles where I wrote about my last Ironman triathlon in the Philippines. More and more people out there find my articles and listen to my podcast episodes, and I am always happy to connect, since it was also other bloggers almost 13,5 years ago that gave me a lot of motivation and inspiration to really get started with endurance sports.

Today, I realized that Harley wrote an article about me writing back to him. Since I like the term “endurepreneur” that he has found for himself and the fact that he writes about interesting stuff like “managing oneself” by P. Drucker, I decided to write about this a little bit. Besides, he is currently learning German (“life is too short to learn German”, they say;) – just another interesting thing!

Im curious to see how Harley will further develop as a triathlete. He wrote to me that his goal is a sub13 in Subic this year. I am excited to meet him at the finish line – hopefully, after successfully finishing my 70.3 race. I am now 99% confident that I will be able to start there, and if everything goes right, I have a good chance to stay below 5:30h.

I know that it will be a very hot race, and hopefully, I will be able to train a couple of weeks in the Philippines before June 9, 2024. My patella tendon is not as inflamed anymore, so that I was able to do a “proper” run today at a close to 5:30 min/km pace. My focus in the past weeks was more on cycling, and with around 300 kms per week, I am currently cycling more than ever before.

Reading a couple of articles by the endurepreneur reminded me that being a triathlete and improving along the way is a beautiful process. There are many obstacles like injuries, mechanical issues, weather, and other things that can derail your initial plan but in the end, it is up to you, if you will eventually succeed.

Persistence is very essential to become successful, and during my “career” as entrepreneur and as triathlete, this is one of the most important factors to finally reach your goals. So, let’s see, if we can break sub 13 and sub 5:30 in about 6 weeks – if not then, then most likely, a bit later, if we will endure the process;)
